Gauri Shankar Temple – A Divine Religious Retreat

The Gaurishankar temple at Dashal village is located very close to Naggar on the Naggar-Manali road. Constructed between the 11th and 12th centuries, Gauri Shankar Temple is believed to be the last monument built in the Gujara-Pratihara traditions. Devoted to the Lord Shiva, this temple showcases incredible architectural design. The main attractions of the temple are its exquisite stone carvings of the late Gupta period done in classical style and the front portion of the Garbhagriha. The Garbhagriha has the amazing carvings of the figures of the Hindu elephant-god; Ganesh, flowers, a musician and a dancer. The temple is built in the shape of a pyramid on an elevated platform with a square shape at the base and dome shape on the top.
