Both options are good for reaching Shimla, it depends on your preference; by road is faster and more comfortable (especially from Chandigarh/Delhi), while the train route is more about the experience. The Kalka–Shimla toy train is very scenic with tunnels and mountain views, but it takes around 5–6 hours, so it can feel time-consuming if you’re on a short trip. If you want a quick and easy journey, go by road; if you want a unique and scenic experience and have extra time, the toy train is definitely worth trying once.
