There are no railway lines from Leh-Ladakh or Srinagar-Kargil-Leh on NH 1A due to challenging geographical terrain, high altitude, and harsh weather conditions in the region. The construction and maintenance of railway lines in such terrains would be extremely difficult and costly, making it impractical to have rail connectivity in these areas.
