The Churdhar Trek is a captivating journey for adventure enthusiasts nestled in the Shivalik Range of Himachal Pradesh, India. Rising to an impressive height of around 3,647 meters, Churdhar Peak offers panoramic vistas of the surrounding valleys, lush forests, and snow-capped peaks. The trek typically starts from Nohradhar, a quaint town known for its serene ambiance and breathtaking landscapes.
One of the highlights of the Churdhar Trek is the Gurumandir Temple located near the summit. This ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva attracts pilgrims and trekkers alike, offering a spiritual pause amidst the natural beauty. The final stretch of the trek involves a steep climb to the peak, rewarded with awe-inspiring views that stretch as far as the eye can see.
The best time to embark on the Churdhar Trek is during the summer months from May to June and again in September to November when the weather is pleasant and the trails are relatively clear. Winter treks are also possible for experienced trekkers, but the terrain can be challenging due to snow and cold conditions.
Depart from Chandigarh early in the morning (approximately 4-5 hours by road). Arrive at Nohradhar, the base camp for Churdhar Trek. Check-in at a guesthouse or campsite. Relax and acclimatize to the altitude. Evening briefing by the trek leader. Dinner and overnight stay at Nohradhar.
After breakfast, start the trek to Churdhar Base Camp (approximately 6-7 hours). Pass through lush forests and meadows, with scenic viewpoints along the way. Arrive at the base camp, set up tents. Enjoy a bonfire and dinner under the starlit sky. Overnight stay at the Churdhar Base Camp.
Early morning ascent to Churdhar Summit (approximately 3-4 hours). Witness a breathtaking sunrise from the peak. Explore the Chureshwar Mahadev Temple and enjoy some quiet moments. Descend back to the base camp. Rest and have dinner. Overnight stay at the Churdhar Base Camp.
After breakfast, trek back to Nohradhar. Reach Nohradhar by late afternoon. Board the vehicle and return to Chandigarh (approximately 4-5 hours). Arrive in Chandigarh by evening, concluding the trek.
